PlanetSicknessBag.com - Pay the favour forward.

Thanks to my company's head of design working overtime at home (thanks Simon!) PlanetSicknessBag.com is now live. I had the idea for this site flying to LA with Virgin, and the site derives its name from the scribbles on the Air Sickness bag I had to hand whilst watching the film featuring Al Gore - 'An Inconvenient Truth' which moved me to tears.

I want the world to continue to be around for my 7 year old son, his kids and theirs. Hence creating PlanetSicknessBag.com and adapting the 'Pay it Forward' sharing mechanism through a series of coincidences.

Today is November 14th 2006, the site has had 80 views since it went up earlier today, and three people have left messages of support, alongside my original 'shave the world' message, and one I penned for my son Cameron. So five in total

So, no excuse - help me pay the favour forward and stop our planet melting down - I hope in a year's time I have at least 1,000,005 comments with many hundreds being left daily.

The idea is a good one and one can hope that it becomes a success. Anything to get people's attention seems worthy at this late point in the game of life. The concern with global climate change is that it is a very simplistic symptom of human overpopulation and consequent over-utilization of finite resources. Further, climate change is only a part, and perhaps a very small part of the overall challenge. Mankind is poisoning the global ecosystem with hydrocarbon compounds linked to halogens. These "modern miracles" derive from the manufacture of chemicals used to make everything from canned whipping cream to plastics to personal grooming products to clothing. They are slowly but surely killing off the oceans and the land ecosystems. Coupled with global climate change, mankind's over-exploitatio and pollution of the planetary closed system are creating the sixth mass extinction -- already well underway. We need to take actions on many fronts, certainly including, but not limited to the factors influencing global climate change. The truly inconvenient truth is that mankind has for sometime exceeded the carrying capacity of the planet. The only conceivable answer is to involuntarily sterilize roughly 95% of the popuylation -- easily done with an engineered rhinovirus.
