Sorry

my apologies for not posting on PSB for so many months. i had hoped that alex tew's pixelotto.com site would be able to provide a good visitor count, but sadly he didn't have as much success with that site as http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com Nonetheless, the site has had over 5,700 visitors, some of whom hate it (and me, it seems), others who really rate the idea.

i am aware that 5,700 is a tiny number in the context of the global daily usage of the web, but perhaps signifies how many people don't (or do) take this issue seriously.

at KMI (King of Shaves) we are certainly taking this seriously, we already have minimally impactful packaging, and are looking at offsetting our carbon production through planting trees, and this is certainly becoming more mainstream.

anyhow, i promise to keep PSB updated more frequently, in the meantime many thanks to those who have visited, irrespective of their comments.

King of Shaves - back in!

I haven't posted for a while, but since I took down reference to the fact I'm an entrepreneur who owned the King of Shaves shaving brand, I've had no posts left on the site?! Just goes to show that people only really comment when they 'love' or 'loathe' something - if you are just 'you' - no one wants to know.

The ad with Pixelotto isn't driving massive traffic to the site, so I'll be thinking how I can continue to spread the PSB word - however, visits are now over 4,000 (which isn't too bad).

Opinions Are Clearly Divided.

i have been surprised (to say the least) by: some of the responses posted at PSB. I have posted extracts from 4, 2 negative - 2 positive.

i guess everyone in the world agrees that killing is bad. that exploitation of third world resource is bad. that disrupting foodchains that support complex ecosystems is bad. but it seems, where our world is concerned, there is one view for every one of us. this site isn't about shameless self promotion, nor is it 'warm cuddly and green'. it serves to draw attention to something that is going on, and will impact us (and our children) in our lifetimes.

here's one opinion (full copy in PSB Guestbook):

"Hey Will, if you really want to save the planet why not propose that your customers stop shaving and thereby you can directly impact on energy consumption by not needing to consume shaving products. You really take the biscuit for hypocracy. You are such a joke."

and here's another:-

"I commend anyone that would put the time into educating people, and attempting to make a difference, and I challenge anyone that has something negative to say. To those of you I ask this. What is it that you stand for, what do you fight for, what drives you? How is it that your are trying with the pitiful singular life that we are all given, to make a change for others? What legacy are you leaving? Again, I say Thank you Will for not living in your bubble, thank you for your efforts, they are not unnoticed."

and like ping pong....

"Why do you think people will give a damn about your inane scribblings on a sick bag? I bet you’ve stashed it away in the hope that you can ebay it in the future. Although I wouldn’t throw it away just yet – it may come in handy when you puke up your next asinine marketing ploy."

serve returned...

"I watched Al Gore's film about 2 months ago - I cannot beleive the "heel Dragging" that goes on in the UK over recylcing, reduction of emmisions and increased use of recylcable energy. In Scotland we use Hydro Electric power through water and dams to produce electricity, we have huge resources of wind and water but no-one wants to use it (too costly)."

PlanetSicknessBag.com - Pay the favour forward.

Thanks to my company's head of design working overtime at home (thanks Simon!) PlanetSicknessBag.com is now live. I had the idea for this site flying to LA with Virgin, and the site derives its name from the scribbles on the Air Sickness bag I had to hand whilst watching the film featuring Al Gore - 'An Inconvenient Truth' which moved me to tears.

I want the world to continue to be around for my 7 year old son, his kids and theirs. Hence creating PlanetSicknessBag.com and adapting the 'Pay it Forward' sharing mechanism through a series of coincidences.

Today is November 14th 2006, the site has had 80 views since it went up earlier today, and three people have left messages of support, alongside my original 'shave the world' message, and one I penned for my son Cameron. So five in total

So, no excuse - help me pay the favour forward and stop our planet melting down - I hope in a year's time I have at least 1,000,005 comments with many hundreds being left daily.
